Our Restoration services include Fine Bindings.
This book, Roman Contemporain, was one of a multi-volume set. This particular book had a damaged head cap. The cap was built up, reshaped and then new leather was added and gilded to blend the repair.

These two books were fully restored in our bindery. All of the gilded titling on the spine and covers were restored, the gilding on the cover illustration was also restored. Corners and end caps were restored, the covers were cleaned and the text block was resewn and recased.

Leather Restorations & Rebinding
Newton's Optiks & Newtonia Principia
Newton's first english edition of "Optiks" was fully restored in our bindery. The original leather was conserved and placed over a new leather binding. The original binding was then blended into the new materials creating a seamless transition from new material to original.
This fourth edition of Newton's Principia was rebound to match the style/period and wear of the Optik's volume.

Cloth Cover Restorations
Smith Elder, & Co 65 Cornhill
This early copy of Jane Eyre from 1857 was bound by the Bronte sisters' main publisher, Smith, Elder & Co and features the pseudonym “Currer Bell” as the author. This book was fully restored in our bindery. The text was resewn and new spine material was added. The cloth was cleaned and restored, and the text was recased in the original restored covers.
